Public Opinion Across the Atlantic: What Potential for Renewed Cooperation?
GLOBSEC will host Pew Research and Körber representatives to discuss and analyze their recent polling in the United States and Germany on the state of their bilateral relations and the trans-Atlantic partnership. In 2020, for the fifth time, Pew Research Center and Körber-Stiftung jointly surveyed Americans and Germans.

During the past years, public perception of the trans-Atlantic partnership increasingly diverged in the United States and Germany. A few weeks after the US-elections, we will analyze how the elections influenced the perception of the German public. We will also examine what could become potential issue areas for future trans-Atlantic cooperation from a public perspective. With the rise of China, publics in both the U.S. and Germany, as well as other democracies around the world, have shifting perceptions of the Asian superpower and that has serious implications for the future of foreign policy in both nations.
